Info
For further information about counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and CBT-i, please see the FAQs and support pages.
The online self-referral form:
The self-referral form asks for information to be able to arrange therapy sessions with the Sleep Support Project counsellor. This information includes personal information such as your contact details, your therapy goals, and some questions around your current support system and current wellbeing.
All information will be stored securely and confidentially, upon submission. It is not possible to access any information you have entered into the form until the form is submitted via the submission button at the end of the form. A confirmation page should then inform you that the form has been submitted.
There is no obligation to proceed with counselling following submission of the self-referral form, and you are free to end counselling sessions at any time. We aim to respond to self-referrals within 3 working days of receiving the submission.
Should it be required, a telephone consultation may be scheduled with you prior to booking any sessions, to make sure that you are receiving the most appropriate therapy plan for what you are going through.
The Initial Consultation:
The initial telephone consultation will last up to 20 minutes, it is to get an idea of what your goals are throughout the counselling process and to make sure the counselling and CBT we offer is suitable for you at this time. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling, and to discuss what to expect throughout the process. Counselling/CBT sessions can be arranged at the end of the consultation, but there is no obligation to proceed with any support, should you decide not to go ahead.
You may request an initial consultation by contacting us, or you may prefer to submit the online self-referral form.
The Counselling Process:
We aim to tailor therapy to your needs and requirements, whether that be a set of sessions over a few weeks/months, short-term therapy, or a one-off support session. Generally, 6 to 8 sessions is a guideline number of recommended sessions to begin with, but this will be discussed and agreed with you during the initial session or during the consultation process. Therapy will be reviewed together throughout the counselling process.
Sessions take place remotely via telephone across the UK, or in-person in our own cosy & calm therapy room in central Bury, Greater Manchester. Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements, or if you need any information in an alternative format.
Frequency of sessions is generally weekly (daytimes / evenings), but can be fortnightly or a more flexible pace if needed, depending on individual circumstances.
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes.
Sleep Support Session:
Sometimes, a one-off sleep support session to help discuss your sleep disruption may be enough to refresh yourself with ways to improve your sleep, and to talk through any minor sleep issues. Our one-to-one sleep support sessions offer therapeutic emotional and practical support, and sleep hygiene information. One-off sessions are available for anyone living with minor sleep concerns. One-off sessions are not as in-depth as counselling. These single sessions are also useful for those who may be supporting partners with their sleep issues, or living with others going through sleep disruption or experiencing sleep disorders.
Sleep Workshops:
We are able to offer sleep workshops within various organisations and settings, to employees, students, or small groups. Sleep workshops can be tailored to your organisation’s specific requirements, and can be a great way to offer support for wellbeing, helping to prevent stress and sleep issues from developing or worsening.
Please get in touch to discuss arranging a sleep workshop, we’d be happy to hear from you.
Payment:
Sessions can be paid for pay-as-you-go, with the option to pay for each session either in advance, at the time of booking, or at the start of each session. Accepted payment methods include: bank transfer, cash, Stripe, Paypal or Apple Pay. Visa/Debit card payments are accepted (in-person only).
